Archer's Ledger

Everything r/dlsudac has said about the courses on the ID 125 BSA checklist: difficulty, exam format, books, professors, and which combinations people warn you not to take together. Every quoted claim carries a ↗ link straight to the thread it came from. Where the sub is silent, this page says so instead of guessing.

The subreddit speaks a different dialect than your checklist

Almost nobody on r/dlsudac uses ID 125 codes. They use the older ones, and they were still using them in August 2026. Searching your own course codes returns almost nothing, so you have to search the old names.

Correction: the intuitive mapping is wrong

ACYAVA is not the audit series. The obvious guess (AVA → “Auditing & Assurance” → ACYASP/ACYFSA) is contradicted by the corpus. ACYAVA is the Advanced Financial Accounting cluster and maps to ACYAFR1/2/3. The proof is a stated prereq chain: “2.0 in ACYFDR3/4 for ACYAFR1/2; 2.0 in ACYFDR5/6 for ACYAFR3”↗, plus the same professors (Esguerra, BCV) teaching under both names, plus AVA's books being AFAR books. The actual audit series in the sub is ACYASR1–4.

What the sub saysYour checklistStatusHow we know
ACYFAR1–5ACYFDR1–6Confirmed“id122 here, for me it was still called acyfar”↗; Archer's Hub still displayed ACYFAR in Apr 2026↗. Note 5 old courses became 6 new ones, so there is no clean 1:1 match past FAR2.

Practical consequence: do not infer someone's curriculum from the code they type. Both code sets were in live use through August 2026, and Archer's Hub itself was still showing old labels.

02 · The shape of the program

Which courses actually break people

Two things dominate every difficulty thread: ACYAFR1 (old AVA1) is where students get delayed, and the Cost Accounting series is the reliable buffer you build a heavy term around.

The delay-makers

Isolate these, don't stack them

  • ACYAFR1 (AVA1): “incredibly hard, i think its where a lot of bsa students get delayed.”↗ Its comprehensive exam is infamous. One student was on their 4th retake.
  • ACYFDR2: “dito pinakamaraming retakers samin”; separately called one of the two hardest FDRs.
  • ACYFDR5: “the second hardest ACY subject” (Income Taxes↗, Employee Benefits, Correction of Errors).
  • ACYFDR4: high failing rate; contains Leases, called “the hardest far topic there.”↗
  • ACYMAS1 (MAG1): only 2 long exams, so flunking LE1 is near-fatal.
  • ACYASP2/ACYFSA (ASR2&3): “harder and more comprehensive versions of far1-5”, compressed into 7 weeks.↗
  • ACTTXN1 (TAX1): “notorious for alien long problems.”↗
The buffers

Reliable grade cushions

  • ACYCOS1/2: “If there's an ‘easy 3.5-4.0’ accounting course, it is Cost Accounting.”↗ Three separate 2026 commenters. Under Doc LJ, “cost becomes a buffer from other accounting subjects.”
  • ACYMAS2 (MAG2): the single most agreed-on easy course: “purong reporting lang yan. Never heard of anyone having to retake that subject ever” (13 upvotes)↗. No quizzes; papers, reporting, oral exam.
  • ACYISC1/2 (ITM1&2): “sure pass”, “Attainable 4.0 in one take”↗, only 16.67% of the grade is the written exam.
  • ACYASP1 / audit theory (ASR1&4): “impossible to fail”; 83.33% of the grade↗ is effectively given away if your prof auto-perfects components.
  • ACYFDR6: “the easiest of the cluster” (interim reporting↗, events after reporting period, related party, operating segments).
  • COBIBAC: “very very chill under ms sarmiento.”↗
The one combination everyone warns about

“dont make the mistake of having far4 and ava1 together they will kill u, your second half will be choosing between the two so sayang lang.”↗ ACYFDR4 + ACYAFR1 both land in the second half of the term. Pick one. The same warning is repeated independently as “manage your time for ava1 + far4.”

Also flagged as bad pairs: FDR2 + FDR4 (“the hardest of the fdr series”), MAG1 + FMG1, and MAG1 + AVA2.

One student's full FDR ranking, hardest to easiest

RankCourseWhy
1ACYFDR2“dito pinakamaraming retakers samin” (most retakers in their batch)
2ACYFDR5Income Taxes, Employee Benefits, Correction of Errors; “wala sakanilang madali”
3ACYFDR3“a LOT of topics compared sa other fdr series”
4ACYFDR4Leases; high failing rate
5ACYFDR1Gentle Q1 (CFAS/Cash), sharp spike into Receivables at Q2
6ACYFDR6Disclosure topics; hard only because of recall from FDR3&4

Treat this as one person's opinion, not consensus. It is the only complete ranking in 315 posts, and it conflicts with other commenters who say “2&4 are the hardest.” There is no published passing rate for any FDR course anywhere in the sub.

Which half of the term each course falls in

Every ACY-prefixed course is modular (half-term) except the integs. ACT courses (TAX, REG) and thesis run the full term with no weekly quizzes. This table is how you avoid stacking two finals in the same week.

First half (wks 1–7)Second half (wks 8–14)
ACYCOS1 · ACYFDR3 · ACYFDR5
ACYMAS1 · ACYFMT1 · ACYAFR2
ACYASR1 & 4 · ACYISC1
ACYFMT1 → see note · ACYFDR2 · ACYFDR4
ACYFDR6 · ACYMAS2 · ACYFMT2
ACYAFR1 · ACYAFR3 · ACYASR2 & 3 · ACYISC2

One direct 2026 statement puts it plainly: “cos 1 – First Half, fmt1 – 2nd half.”↗ That makes ACYCOS1 + ACYFMT1 a clean non-overlapping pair, which is exactly why the “FDR3&4 + COS1 + FMT1” combo keeps getting approved in the sub.

03 · Sequencing

Prerequisite gates that change your enlistment order

These are the facts that actually constrain your flowchart. Several are not obvious from the checklist itself.

GateRuleConsequence if you ignore it
Retention grade2.0 is the retention grade for ACY and ACT courses. Not for others: LBYSACS is explicitly exempt “since it's not an ACY or ACT subject.”↗A 1.5 is a mandatory retake. For calibration: 79.3 = 1.5, so the 2.0 cut sits at 80.
ACYFDR1Need ≥2.0 in ACYFDR1 to enlist in ACYFDR3 through ACYFDR6.↗The whole upper FDR series is locked.
ACYFDR3/4 → AFRNeed ≥2.0 in FDR3/4 for ACYAFR1/2, and ≥2.0 in FDR5/6 for ACYAFR3.Merely taking the FDR isn't enough. You need the grade.
ACYCOS1ACYCOS1 is the only prereq for the MAG/MAS series.↗Lets you skip ahead to MAG1&2 without finishing the AFR cluster.
ACYFMT → ACTFMKTFinancial Management is a hard prereq for Financial Markets. “you cannot take ACTFMKT if you aren't done with ACYFMG yet.”↗ACTFMKT gets rejected outright.
COBGOVE/ACYGOVEThe only prereq for the whole audit (ASR) series.Useful: you can take audit early, alongside FAR. One senior calls this “the game changer.”↗
Audit blockASR1–4 must be taken together. “You cannot [take asr1&2 first], the ASR cluster has to be taken together.”↗No partial enlistment.
LBYCISA → PRCACTYLBYCISA is a prerequisite for the internship.↗Miss the LBYCISA slot and your internship term slips. Whether they can be taken together is unresolved in the sub.
ACTTXN3 → integACTTXN3 gates the Taxation integ; ACYREG3 gates the RFBT integ.See the next row. You can no longer take them alongside integs.
Prereq + course togetherRule changed No longer allowed, as of the last DAC townhall (Apr 2026). “it's unfortunately non-negotiable now, you have to finish all prereqs prior to taking integ.”↗Advice from 2025 saying “allowed with DAC permission” is dead. This is the single most important staleness trap in the corpus.
Archer's HubThe system will let you enlist in a course you haven't passed the prereq for.“they were dropped from the subject after the first half.”↗ Do not treat the Hub as a prerequisite check.
The single most repeated planning tip

Take the Taxation series as early as you can. “take the tax series as early as you can para if you need to retake, you would be able to since hindi na siya pwede isabay sa Integs term. Learn from my mistake. Had to extend another term since I had to retake ACTTAX2.”↗ Because tax can't be paired with integs any more, a single tax retake late in the program costs you a whole extra term.

04 · The dossier

Course by course

Grouped the way the sub actually discusses them. Each entry gives the verdict, how you're assessed, what to study from, and what it's safe to pair with.

ACYFDR1old: ACYFAR1Moderate
The gentle start with a cliff at Quiz 2

Ranked 5th of 6 for difficulty. The real hazard is the Q1→Q2 spike: Quiz 1 is CFAS/Cash, Quiz 2 is Receivables, and the jump catches people who start studying late. Retakes to a 2nd or 3rd attempt are documented.

ACYAFR1old: ACYAVA1Highest risk
Where BSA students get stuck

The most-discussed course in the entire subreddit (58 mentions). “ava1 is incredibly hard, i think its where a lot of bsa students get delayed.” Four commenters call it the hardest of its cluster; its comprehensive exam is “infamous.” One student posted while on their 4th retake. Only 16.67% of your grade is the written comprehensive exam: “the remaining 83.33% of your grade is parang give away nalang (basta choose kdc/pascual).”↗ The catch is entirely about prof choice: some professors don't auto-perfect the components, which destroys the whole premise.

ACTTXN1–3  ←  old ACTTAX1–3  ·  full-term, not modular
ACTTXN1old: ACTTAX1Hard
“Notorious for alien long problems”

Under Marvin Soriano, LBYCISA is actively recommended as a load-lightener: “totally vouch for sir soriano for lbycisa, take niyo na siya guys lalo na if mabibigat majors niyo next term.”↗ Under Enriquez, LBYSACS becomes the harshest review in the corpus: a full research proposal in one week and a 200-respondent survey. Under Edgar Chang, “he adds so much points kaya kahit na mababa ka sa quizzes, papasa ka parin.”↗

Grading
LBYCISA: 70% written and oral comprehensive
Retention grade
LBYSACS has no 2.0 retention requirement, since it isn't an ACY or ACT code. A grade below 2.0 stands.↗
Critical
LBYCISA is a prerequisite for the internship. Don't lose the slot.

Thesis, Internship & the Integrating Modules

THSBSAX · ACCRESM · PRCACTY · ACYINT1–6
THSBSAX / ACCRESMold: THSBSAB/P · ACTREMB/PModerate
Whole-term, not modular

“Personally, I would say not really heavy. Pero will depend din on what topic you pursue, your groupmates, and your thesis panel (esp if they ask for a lot of revisions).” The split: research methods covers chapters 1 through research design; thesis covers statistical methods, results and conclusion.↗

Units
The thesis term allows 15 units. The 12-unit cap attaches to internship only
Confirmed doable
ACTTXN3 + internship + research methods + thesis, per two commenters
Coverage
No professor is ever named for thesis or research methods in 315 posts.
PRCACTYInternshipLogistics only
400 hours, 12 units, hard cap

DAC provides the list of MOA partner companies and runs an orientation at the end of the preceding term, but you can start applying before it. The academic side of the course is entirely undocumented in the sub: no grading breakdown, no supervisor, nothing about what's actually required of you.

Hours
400↗
Unit cap
12 units maximum. A CHED memorandum, non-negotiable. Confirmed by 7+ commenters across four separate posts. An 18-unit OJT term is not possible.↗
Firm choice
One answer only, on Big 4: “deloitte, bc of the prestige intl”↗
ACYINT1–6integs · FARP AFAR MANS AUDI TAXN RFBTHigh risk
Your final term, all six at once, ~30–70% pass

On your first take you must enrol in all six subjects in one section, in a single term: “not possible. for your 1st take integs you need to take all 6.”↗ Failing part of it is normal and there is no failure limit; after a first take you may split the remainder across terms. Full face-to-face.

Passing rate
The only hard numbers anywhere in the corpus: ~30% for one regular first-taker term of 160+ students; <10 of ~50 in one earlier term; “around 60–70%” more recently. Retaker classes cap at 35.↗
Structure
Plenary = 3-hr lecture on high-yield topics · Breakout = 1.5-hr problem-solving on handouts↗
PATs
35-item test per subject in the first three days, covering the whole CPALE syllabus, and graded. “usually dyan nagfa-fall short yung mga bumabagsak.”↗
Grade split
Most recent (2026): 40% attendance + breakout + quizzers + insight paper, 30% midterm, 30% finals. Older terms used a different scheme, so treat any single breakdown as term-specific.
Hardest subjects
FAR and AFAR are “the two deadliest”; AFAR and MANS drew the most repeaters. TAX and RFBT are “easy pass.”
vs the actual board exam
“mas madali talaga ang cpale sa integs”: in integs you can predict what comes out; the CPALE throws genuinely alien questions.↗
Enlistment
Enlist in one section only. Mixing sections guarantees a schedule conflict.↗
Timeline
A term ending in August points to the October CPALE, not May. The TOR won't be issued in time.↗

Recommended

Sir KDC

Audit series · head of the audit cluster
★★★ 4 independent

“the best”, genuinely loves teaching, no recitation, and auto-perfects every non-exam component, which is the entire value proposition of ASR1&4. His slots always sell out. Also wrote The Ultimate AT Reviewer.

Sir MJE / MJ

Cost Accounting → moving to MAG
★★★ 4 independent

The most enthusiastic block of praise in the corpus. “super galing mag turo, he'll literally give all mats that u would need to survive.” “WORTH IT TO TAKE KAHIT NA 7:30AM I SWEAR.”

Doc LJ (Legaspi)

Cost Accounting 1 & 2
★★★ 4 independent

“very very very generous sa plus points… cost becomes a buffer from other accounting subjects because of doc lj.” No textbook needed under her. Soft voice, PPT-driven, so sit near the front.

Binaluyo

ACYFDR5 & 6
★★★ 3 independent, incl. 2026

“The top FAR professor! I learned the most from him.” Confirmed still teaching FDR5&6 in 2026: “trust me u are in good hands with him.”

Catapusan

ACYREG3
★★★ 6 in one thread

OP's own arc: “intimidating at first, almost dropped him… I LOVE HIM!!! BEST PROF INDEED.” Restructures recitation questions to help you get there. Extra points for discussion boards. Cost: real reading, no old tests.

Paran, Allan Leo T.

ACTTXN2 · freshest review in the corpus
★★ 1 very detailed, Aug 2026

“He's the GOAT of Taxation. If you take him, you are in super good hands.” His short quizzes mirror the long exams; gives quicknotes on the rates. Communicates only via beadles on Viber.

Doc Rabo

ACYMAS1 & 2 · DAC Chair
★★ 2 detailed + corroboration

“Dabest talaga. Spoonfeeds everything.” Grades very high: “wala ako nakitang lower than 90.” Follow the rubric exactly. Slow to answer email in her Chair capacity.

Espiritu

Cost Accounting 2
★★ 3 independent

The strongest predictability claim about any examiner here: “naturo lahat ng possible scenarios… straightforward yung questions sa exam.” His notes replace a textbook.

Sir Hector

ASR1 & ASR3
★★ 2 + confirmed curve

One of only two firsthand confirmed curves in the corpus: “I probably flunked my compre last term but I got 3.0.” Hands out review-centre materials whose questions reappear on the quiz. Downside: soft voice, “nakakaantok.”

Otucan, Clark Joed

ACTTXN3
★★ 4 across 3 threads

He curves. And he's the most accommodating scheduler described: “he adjusts naman to REG3 schedules. He also takes into consideration your other subjects if you inform him well ahead of time.” Starts late, finishes early, doesn't cover everything.

BCV (Villaluz)

ACYAFR1–3 · author of the FAR books
★★ 3 independent

Auto-100 on non-exam components and he rounds up (79.6 → 2.0). His YouTube channel is functionally identical to his class. ⚠️ But a 2026 comment ties him and Sir Rain to “insane” AFR1/2 quizzes and a ~50% first-taker failure rate.

Endozo, Romelyn

ACYFMT1/2 · ACTFMKT
★★ 4 independent

CPALE top-1, “lowkey lang siya.” “Her quizzes are usually much easier than other profs, based on CEs and HWs.” Auto-perfect activities. Cost: frequently absent, unpredictable schedule changes.

Cabonce, Daven

ACYREG1 · ACTTXN3
★★ 3 independent

“CABONCE GOAT.” Weak lecturer (“mas madami kwento nya kesa turo”), but he manually adjusts attendance and coursework to get you over the line. Don't expect a curve.

Retardo, JC

ACYISC (ITM)
★★ 4 independent

“a very solid prof whos good at teaching, has pretty chill vibes, and very approachable.” High grades for visible effort; he actually reads the research articles. Curve is contested; he won't show your component breakdown unless you ask at grade consultation.

Lat, Ernie

ASR1
★★ 2 independent

Approachable, lenient on deadlines, no graded recitation, and gave out a 400-question practice set with answers. Fast-paced and dull, so get an active beadle to chase his PPTs.

Lopo

Cost · ACYFMT2
★★ 3 independent

“very considerate.” His YouTube videos mirror his teaching, extends deadlines on request, likely grades high on papers. Probably curves in Cost (hearsay, but the asker reported passing).

Rivera

ACYFDR3/4
★★ 2 in one thread

“pretty chill.” Uses his own review handouts and videos and teaches shortcut techniques “parang review center.” Grants extensions with a valid reason; rounds at 79.5.

John-john Patrick Lim

ACYFDR retakes
★ 2, one secondhand

Called the retakers' GOAT: “makes decent quizzes, easier than most accounting profs” and “perfects non-exam components.” Recently returned to DLSU, so reviews are thin.

Warnings

ProfessorCourseThe warningStrength
Enriquez, Khen O.ACYMAS2 · LBYSACS The strongest negative consensus in the corpus. “very stress-inducing”; reads off slides he won't share; sets huge expectations without giving guidelines (a full research proposal in one week, a 200-respondent survey); grades the oral compre down to 82 where other profs floor at 90; unresponsive to email. “MAG2 is supposed to be easy 4.0 pero sakaniya hindi.” One dissenting positive review exists and says he grades generously to stated expectations, which is precisely what the critics say he doesn't state. 4 vs 1
Ardona, Glen V.ACYREG1/2 · ACYAFR3 Genuinely good teacher when present, but chronically absent (“puro siya absent, send lang ng recording”), releases quiz scores one day before the compre, and gives no final-grade adjustment whatsoever: someone needing 0.2 to pass got nothing. Upside: auto-perfect non-exam components. 2 independent
Manalo, MarivicACYCOS1 Turns the easiest cluster into a risk. Weekly handwritten assignments filed in a mandated folder; OBE teaching style that students say hurt comprehension; curves only at 79%. “if you fail, you fail talaga even if cost 1 is supposed to be the easiest.” 2 independent
Diokno, Chester OwenASR1 & 4 Kind and competent, but he does not auto-perfect the components that make ASR1&4 a free pass. Capstone capped at 93, no perfect participation unless you're beadle. This is why the standing advice is “choose kdc/pascual.” 3 in one thread
BendoACYFDR5 · ACYAFR1 Not a bad teacher: he spoonfeeds and auto-perfects components. This is a hard-numbers warning: no curve, no round-up, no 0.0→1.0, no attendance leniency. “Whatever appears in your Canvas is your grade.” Very standards-based, so old tests alone won't save you. 5 across 2 threads
Esguerra, TeodoraACYAFR2/3 Excellent teacher, but the strictest non-exam grader in the corpus: no auto-perfect, notebooks graded harshly (“may mga naka 10/100”), paper scores never released, no curve, and not comfortable with Canvas. Offsetting: voluntary recitation earns +2 on your lowest quiz. 4 across 3 threads
Soriano (FAR/AFR)ACYFDR3 · ACYAFR1 Top-tier teacher: one student went from 3.0/2.5 in FAR1/2 to a 4.0 in FAR3 under him. The caution is personality: “may tendency siyang mang-asar or mantrip”, “pinakastrict”, “avoid sir soriano nalang” if you dislike intimidating profs. Note: for LBYCISA he is unreservedly recommended. 4 flag the manner
LacsiACYFDR1/2 Teaches 1.5 hrs/week, basics only; assignment videos arrive “depending on his mood”; “You can't even contact him most of the time.” “as a first timer, he is definitely one of those profs that is the worst”, though fine for a retaker, since he doesn't check attendance. 1 detailed, 2024
Maico, Antonio Jr.ACYFDR1 only No reliable materials; handwritten answers including multiple choice; “wala kang maiintindihan sa lecture kung hindi mo alam lesson beforehand”; materials sometimes contain wrong answers. For ITM his reviews are mild and he's an easy grader. 1 for FDR1
Ong, KirkACYFDR3 “mukhang walang papasa sa class niya.” One in-class commenter plus one hearsay OP. Flag it, don't treat it as established. 1, 2025
Named, but with zero usable information

Do not infer anything about these, they appear only as names: Granada (a direct 2026 question about whether he curves FDR2 got zero replies) · Jessu Trinidad (TAX1) · Pinza (TAX1) · Ambray (REG2) · Herradura (ITM, “i cant find anything abt him sa prof to pick or even here”) · Talabis · Sir Ferrer (AFAR) · Sally Ang Chua (GOVE) · Anson Keh (FMT, his old tests are sought after, which is all we know) · Perry Carl Ang Lim (MAG).

06 · Method

How the people who passed actually studied

Three long, highly-upvoted guides sit in this subreddit. They disagree on sequencing but converge hard on one thing: practice volume beats note-taking, and cramming does not work in this program.

The 32-upvote FAR guide

Practice is 65–85% of study time

  • Understand the concept first. Then take the book's exercises, hide the choices, and solve unaided, fast and accurately.
  • Check only what you got wrong, and analyse the mistake. Repeat each section so every question is practised 3–5 times.
  • 300–1,000 practice questions per problem-solving quiz.↗ Plus 5–6 previous quizzes.
  • Study 4–5×/week, 30 min–2 hrs. Start Quiz 1 prep in Week 1, 3–4 weeks out.
  • Start Quiz 2 topics a week before Quiz 1, because difficulty spikes between quizzes.
  • The flow: videos → basic questions → standards → CEs/HWs → book exercises → past quizzes.
The ID122 senior's 8 rules

Read the standard, not the textbook

  • “studying accounting is like studying law. be absolutely meticulous with the usage of words like and / or.”↗
  • Don't look for anything not stated in the problem.
  • Don't grind similar problems. Solved an FVOCI debt investment? Jump straight to FVPL or amortised cost. Cover scenarios, not repetitions.
  • Employee benefits: answer Valix and nothing else.
  • Never stay up late solving problems. Stay up reading standards and watching lectures; solve when rested.
  • Study business combinations before AFR2 starts.
  • “most textbooks vary in interpretation of standards”. Read the standard, then use books for reinforcement.
The 3rd-take routine that worked

Video → Valix → BCV → old tests

  • Watch YouTube first, before reading anything: Sir Soriano's videos, with BCV as fallback. Take notes while watching.
  • Read Valix as the serious pass.
  • Read BCV's reviewer as the polish/wrap-up pass.
  • Then theories, problems, and old tests last, to calibrate expected difficulty.
  • From a senior who took FAR2 four times: take FAR alongside the audit series. “the discipline auditing demands made me so tough.”
  • “put rest as a top priority.”↗
Integs, from someone who passed in one take

Sacrifice four months

  • Structure each day around tomorrow's breakout subject. (Mon breakouts = MANS/TAXN/FARP → study Sunday; Tue = RFBT/AFAR/AUDI → study Monday.)
  • Close the exam coverage two weeks before midterms and finals week.
  • Know your examiner and drill their past tests, ranked above the official handouts.
  • Always submit complete homework. The non-quiz block is free points.
  • Minimum 6 hours sleep. Have a support system.↗
  • Secure a high midterm grade as leverage. Finals has far bigger coverage.

What people actually use

  • Redefine: the FAR/AFAR recommendation. Free YouTube doesn't carry most FDR3&4 topics; the full library is a paid subscription, buyable per topic or per subject↗. Sir Rain's version is the specific pick for FDR5.
  • BCV on YouTube: identical to his class. Carried people through AFR2–3 without opening a book.
  • Sir Soriano on YouTube: “d best for me” as the first pass on FAR.
  • Sir Lopo on YouTube: the FMT recommendation.
  • Pinnacle: per-subject undergrad enrolment, cheapest, “as zero-based as it can get.” Best for the integs term.
  • ReO: undergrad programme; quickvids for MS, Sir Karim's concept videos for FAR, RFBT lecture videos.↗
  • SoLL has one reasoned endorsement: “all SoLL reviewers are Integs Profs.” Three separate posts↗ asking whether it's actually any good got zero replies.
  • Free: DAC coaching sessions (Bendo for AFAR, KDC ran FAR) and APool peer tutorials.

Timing rule: enrol in a review centre one term before integs, not during. “save yourself from mourning PATs later on.”↗

What doesn't work

Repeatedly warned against

  • Note-taking as the main activity. “Your notes will not determine your passing rate, your practice will.”
  • Memorising formulas. For FMT especially: knowing every formula still leaves you unable to tell which applies.
  • Cramming. Universal.
  • Copying the CE/HW solution instead of solving it cold. Named as the corrective in four separate posts.
  • Relying on old tests alone. MAG1 profs “don't recycle”; one AFR1 prof's questions are “wala sa OTs and books”; the REG3 prof “doesnt do ots”.
  • Skipping theory because it's multiple choice. “minsan theories nalang din talaga nagpapababa sa grades ko.”↗
  • Trusting textbooks over the standards.
  • Treating plenary lectures as first exposure during integs.
  • Assuming a review centre guarantees a pass.
The most actionable single insight

Find out whether your professor auto-perfects the non-exam components before you decide where to spend effort. Roughly 35–40% of an accounting course grade sits in homework, papers and class standing. Tubay, BCV, Bendo, Endozo, Simbillo, Inandan and KDC give it away for complete on-time submissions. Niño Gonzales, Esguerra and Diokno make you earn every point. That single fact changes your whole term strategy, and it's the difference between ASR1&4 being a free pass and being real work.

Rules, grades and who to actually talk to

Grades

What the numbers mean

  • 2.0 is the retention grade for ACY and ACT courses. 79.3 = 1.5, so the cut is at 80.
  • A 0.0 anywhere disqualifies you from Latin honours, even if you pass the retake. A 1.5 does not↗.
  • Dean's List is recoverable after a retake, as long as you hit the GPA minimum and have no grade below 2.0. Confirmed firsthand by someone who did it.↗
  • Curving is departmental and unanimous: “they only curve if all profs agree.” Worth roughly +10 on the compre ≈ 2.4% of your final grade. Do not plan around it.
  • Rounding is prof discretion, not policy. BCV rounds 79.6 up to 2.0; Bendo does not round at all.↗
  • JPIA incentive is capped at +2 on one quiz↗, regardless of how many events you attend.
Units

Caps and overloads

  • 12 units maximum in the internship term. CHED memorandum, non-negotiable, confirmed by 7+ people.
  • The thesis term allows 15. The cap attaches to internship specifically.
  • 24 units is the overload ceiling, and DAC announced it will be stricter. Anything above 24 is not allowed.↗
  • Overload is realistically granted only if it's your last term. Email Dr. Rabo.
  • A full majors load is 21 units.↗
People

Who to contact for what

  • Dr. Rabo: DAC Chair. Curriculum consults, overload approval, manual enlistment approval, new slots. Slow by email; watch the petition tracker for updates instead of GCs.
  • Ms. Editha Trinidad: DAC Vice-Chair. Flowchart and remaining-units consultation. Go F2F, it's faster.↗
  • Ms. Esteva-Teves: APO. Once Rabo approves your manual enlistment, go to her onsite schedule (MTW)↗ with the approval rather than emailing.
  • Sir Bendo: the contact for expediting TOR issuance ahead of CPALE applications.↗
  • Flowchart consultation is rationed: “usually granted only for graduating students with 2 terms left.”
Enlistment

System quirks that cost people slots

  • Archer's Hub still shows old course codes. Search ACYFAR, not ACYFDR.
  • Courses sometimes don't appear in the Hub at all. Cross-check the RVR-COB course offerings document.↗
  • Sections are listed with no prof assigned, so use the mini course finder.↗
  • Manual enlistment needs a valid reason and is refused if open slots remain, or if your reason is wanting a specific prof. Email Rabo with the conflict details, a screenshot of enrolled subjects, your ID number, and the target course/number/section.↗
  • Free electives: DAC releases the open list before the enlistment period, usually business, law and sustainability courses.↗

Zero coverage: not one mention in 315 posts

FDNECON  ·  FDNBUSF  ·  FDNMANP  ·  FDNMARK  ·  ACTCOMM  ·  DSIOPMA  ·  ACTELEC

Your entire first-year foundation block is invisible here. No professor, no difficulty rating, no workload. FDNACCT is mentioned twice, once as “the foundation everything builds on,” once for a professor, but has no difficulty rating either.

CourseWhat exists
COBMECO · DSILYTC · MADFUND · COBSHUROne mention each, and all four come from the same sentence in one post listing courses someone had finished. Zero substantive information.
COBSTRMOnly “not that easy although depending sa prof” and “has papers during finals.” No prof reviews.
DSIMGTSOne prof surname with no review; “could get really hassle, depends on prof.”
COBEDEVOne usable post: Ms. Leigh Lim takes attendance every class, grades very high, ~4–5 solo submissions plus a group final paper.↗
COBIBAC“very very chill under ms sarmiento”, and it's confirmed doable alongside four majors. That's all.
PRCACTYLogistics are well covered; the academic side (grading, supervision, requirements) is completely undocumented.
ACYINT1–6Structure, grading and passing rates are richly covered, but not one integs professor is ever named. The closest hint is “all SoLL reviewers are Integs Profs.”↗ This is the biggest gap relative to your final term.
ACYFDR6 · ACYREG2 · ACTTXN2 · ACTFMKTExactly one professor each.
Staleness: treat these as possibly obsolete

Rules that changed inside the window

  • A new grading system for all FDR subjects was announced in April 2026. The post got zero replies and zero detail.↗ Every FDR grade weighting on this page may be out of date. Ask DAC directly.
  • Taking a prereq alongside its course is now banned (Apr 2026), including the old integs exception. All 2025 advice on this is dead.
  • Overload policy tightened: the 2024 “petition via the Academic Programming Officer” route may be superseded by “email Dr. Rabo.”
  • Quiz scoring changed: no points for solutions, and quiz day moved from Wednesday to class day.↗
  • Exam authorship flips between departmental and prof-made from term to term, so “prof X's quizzes are easy” may not survive a year.
  • Professor rosters churn. Sir MJE moved from Cost toward MAG; Sir Lim recently returned to DLSU; one reviewed prof was in their first term teaching. Re-verify at enlistment.
  • About a quarter of these posts are pre-2025, and that's where most professor reviews live. Every review dated 2024 on this page is flagged in its evidence count.

Two smaller cautions worth repeating. Several prof “facts” rest on a single comment: Kirk Ong's warning, Lacsi's, and Paran's glowing review are each one person. And one negative claim in the corpus (Simbillo's alleged favouritism and no-curve) is explicitly thirdhand (“from friends of a friend”) and is contradicted by two people who actually took him.
